When you touch your sclera (white part of eye) with a q-tip, it works without you having to shut your eyes. But if you try to get to the cornea (clear part where the eye color starts) you can’t resist closing your eyes, even though you are really trying to resist. (This is due to to a reflex - the N. nasociliaris (coming from V1 - N. ophthalmicus, coming from V - N. trigeminus) “feels” the cornea, so the N. facialis “shuts” the eye thru the M. orbicularis oris.) Just learned this and tried it. It’s true. Usually stuff from the books is really never true when I try it. Often that means I would be partly paralized, haha…
